   January 2025

Happy New Year! We hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. Amazingly, this month will close the first half of third grade. Even the students are commenting about how fast our school year is going.

As the weeks have gone by, the third-graders have continued reading and analyzing informational texts. In writing, we have worked on responses to literature and are now moving on to narrative writing tasks. In math, they have been applying multiplication facts when calculating the area of a shape. They are also reading and creating picture graphs and bar graphs.

The second marking period started in November, which led us into science. We have just finished our study of weather. The students made predictions about the weather by observing the clouds and wind. They also studied weather patterns after creating a model of the Earth's climates. Now we are comparing and contrasting the life cycles of animals and plants. During this month we will also include a study of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Be sure to discuss our school day with your child to help them review the skills we practiced and to help you stay informed.
