As we continue our learning journey this year, I'd like to share our current homework assignments that will help support your child's development.
Reading Together
Daily Reading:
Please set aside time each night to read with your child. This is a wonderful opportunity to bond and foster a love for books!Discussion Points:
- Story Elements: After reading, ask your child questions about the story elements, such as:
- Who are the main characters?
- What is the setting?
- What is the problem in the story?
- How is the problem resolved?
Writing Practice
Letters and Numbers:
Encourage your child to practice writing both letters and numbers. This can be done through fun activities such as:- Tracing letters in sand or with finger paint.
- Writing numbers while counting objects around the house.
Phonemic Awareness Activities
Rhyme and Alliteration:
Help your child recognize and create rhymes and alliteration through playful activities:- Rhyme Time: Sing songs or read poems that incorporate rhymes. Ask your child to find words that rhyme with a word you choose.
- Alliteration Fun: Create silly sentences using words that start with the same sound. For example, "Silly Sam swiftly swims."
Identifying Syllables:
Practice breaking words into syllables with these activities:- Clap It Out: Clap your hands for each syllable in a word. For example, "banana" has three claps: ba-na-na.
- Syllable Sorting: Gather objects or pictures and sort them based on the number of syllables they contain.
